Preview: Manchester City, Manchester United and now Chelsea one after the other Newcastle trio of consecutive gruelling encounters is completed when they host Andre Villas-Boas' Chelsea at St James' Park today. The Magpies saw their unbeaten start to the 2011-12 season come to an end when they travelled to Manchester City before following up that result by holding United to a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford. Alan Pardew's men come into this match with a great chance of winning with Chelsea having a nightmarish season despite having returned to winning ways in the league last weekend.Just when there appeared to be hope Chelsea were turning a corner with their convincing 3-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers, they were brought crashing down to earth again as Liverpool dumped them out of the Carling Cup. What is the most surprising is that Stamford Bridge which used to be their fort is where they have performed the worse and their away form has been much better, so for this one Chelsea won’t mind travelling and playing at Newcastle much. A victory can see Chelsea move up to the 4th spot while a loss can see Andre Villas Boas out of the club sacked so its an interesting scenario. The Magpies will not have influential midfielder Cheik Tiote though the kind of season Chelsea are having Newcastle will still fancy their chances and we expect they might just come out with a 1-1 draw.
